The main road passing through Jenks Knob continues on the ridgeline for approximately 2.5 miles where it meets Beaverdam Bald. The road can be gated giving you total privacy. Jenks Knob is situated right @ 4000 mls ft and has spectacular views like those from the movie "Last of the Mohicans" in all directions, and rightfully so as the movie was filmed in Western North Carolina. Last timbered early in the twentieth century the trees are large and majestic poplar, hickory, white and red oak, birch cherry, maple, ash, and spruce with mountain laurel, rhododendron, and wildflowers that decorate the land make you feel like your in the enchanted forest. Walking the property it is not uncommon to be startled by an explosion of grouse taking flight or the sound of wild turkeys as they move through the woods. Deer, black bear, and wild boar abound in the area and hunting is excellent. |
